Kindiki warns Gachagua of early defeat in 2027
By Dorcas Mbatia, May 31, 2025Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged Kenyans to rise above tribal divisions and focus on unity, peace, and economic empowerment.
Speaking on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Kibirichia in Buuri, Meru County, during an empowerment initiative event, Kindiki hit out at critics of the government, saying they are only out to exploit Kenya’s diversity to stir up tension ahead of the general election.
“You cannot claim you are a leader when your business is to incite one community against another because our people are everywhere. Kenyans are interlinked across counties. Our strength is in our unity,” Kindiki stated.
Accompanied by area lawmakers and Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, the DP hit out at his predecessor Rigathi Gachagua, whom he accused of brewing division in the Mt Kenya region for his political interest.
“There is only one Kenya. This country will only develop if all communities co-exist peacefully. We must not give any space to those sowing seeds of tribal discord for personal political gain,” Kindiki warned.
The Deputy President emphasised that tribal incitement is not only outdated but also dangerous and counterproductive to the nation’s growth and progress.
He further warned Gachagua and his team to prepare for an early defeat come 2027, saying the Kenya Kwanza government will win immensely owing to their tremendous track record.
“We are not cowards in politics. We are masters of it. We have given them time to say what they want and advance their political agenda, but when the time comes, they will get a rude shock. We are masters of politics. We will beat them badly and win early in the morning,” Kindiki said.

The second in command further accused Gachagua of being incompetent during his tenure in office, blaming him for concentrating on tribal politics instead of development.
He lamented that, for now, President William Ruto’s administration is focused on service delivery to fulfil all the projects they promised Kenyans before the end of the first term.
He advised Kenyans to shun Gachagua’s politics, saying he is trying to divide Kenya to seek sympathy support, a move the government will not condone.
The DP is currently leading a national grassroots empowerment campaign aimed at uplifting youth, women, and small-scale traders.
“Empowerment is central to improving the lives of millions of Kenyans at the grassroots. We will not relent. We are telling those opposing this initiative to sit and watch the transformation because clearly, they don’t understand what Ksh10,000, Ksh20,000, or Ksh50,000 can mean to a small business owner,” Kindiki noted.
Kindiki dismissed claims that the initiative is a handout, noting that it is a move aimed at unlocking the economic potential and dignity of ordinary Kenyans.
“Our people don’t want handouts; they want opportunity. They need empowerment now, not empty political promises during campaign seasons, only to be deserted once those leaders win,” he noted.
This grassroots effort complements wider government programs such as the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) and the Kenya Jobs Economic Transformation Initiative, which target economic inclusion for youth and women.
“We’re not just handing out money — we’re integrating these efforts with national policies aimed at economic stability,” he noted.
