Deputy President and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, hosted 60 Kenya Kwanza Members of Parliament (MPs) from across 13 counties following the ruling party’s decisive win in the Mbeere North Constituency by-election.

UDA, in a statement shared via social media on the night of Wednesday, December 3, said that the high-level meeting, held in Nairobi, brought together lawmakers from Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Nakuru, Nairobi, and Lamu counties.

According to UDA, the lawmakers were joined by the party’s National Chairperson and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, as well as National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.

“Deputy President and UDA Party Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki met 60 Kenya Kwanza MPs from Embu, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Nakuru, Nairobi, and Lamu Counties and thanked them for their dedication, commitment, and teamwork that resulted in the election of Leo Wamuthende of UDA as the Mbeere North Constituency Member of Parliament,” the statement read in part.

Review of development projects

Beyond celebrating Leo Wamuthende’s win, UDA says the MPs held an extensive review of development projects and programmes across their constituencies, with Kindiki urging the leaders to expedite delivery.

The meeting assessed the status of ongoing projects in infrastructure, security, agriculture, education, and youth empowerment initiatives.

“The meeting reviewed the progress of key development projects and programmes across their constituencies and agreed on clear mechanisms to fast-track the completion of ongoing initiatives for the benefit of the Kenyan people. UDA Party National Chairperson and Embu County Governor Cecily Mbarire, together with National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, were present,” UDA stated.

New MPs sworn in

The meeting comes just a day after six newly elected MPs were sworn in to the National Assembly following the heated by-elections held on Thursday, November 27, 2025, across affected areas. 

The members who took the oath of office include Harrison Garama Kombe of Magarini Constituency, Ahmed Maalim Hassan of Banissa Constituency, Boyd Were Ongondo of Kasipul Constituency, David Athman Ndakwa of Malava Constituency, Wamuthende of Mbeere North Constituency, and Moses Okoth Omondi of Ugunja Constituency.
