KeNHA announces temporary closure of highway from JKIA

Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a partial closure of a highway from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to allow repair works.

In a notice on KeNHA’s official X account on Thursday, April 16, 2026, the authority notified the public that it is closing a section of A8/B10 Highway from JKIA Turn-off to JKIA Elephant Roundabout.

The partial closure, which took effect from Friday, April 10, 2026, is expected to last until Sunday, April 19, 2026, between 10.00 pm and 5.00 am.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) notifies the public that a section of A8/B10 Highway from JKIA Turn-off to JKIA Elephant Roundabout will be partially closed every night from Friday, April 10, 2026, to Sunday, April 19, 2026 between 10.00 pm and 5.00 am,” KeNHA stated.

At the same time, the authority confirmed that the closure is set to allow for highway maintenance works on the road section.

Traffic disruption

According to the Authority, during the partial closure, part of the carriageway shall be closed at a time to ensure minimal traffic disruption.

“This closure is to allow for highway maintenance works on the road section. During this period, part of the carriageway shall be closed at a time to ensure minimal traffic disruption,” KeNHA stated.

KeNHA has further urged motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with law enforcement officers on site.

Meanwhile, KeNHA has assured motorists that normal traffic operations on the road will be restored upon completion of the works

“Motorists are advised to follow the proposed traffic management plan as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site. Normal traffic operations on the road will be restored upon completion of the works,”KeNHA added.
