Kawira Mwangaza readies to face opponents with new rally schedule
By Steve Ireri, July 27, 2025Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has announced new dates for her Okolea rallies, vowing to forge ahead with her grassroots mobilisation campaign despite recent police clampdowns that left her and her supporters teargassed.
Her declaration comes just days after security officers controversially blocked two of her rallies, disrupting the gatherings with volleys of teargas, raising public concern over the growing friction between her camp and the authorities.
Speaking during a church service at the Baite Family Fellowship on Sunday, July 27, 2025, Mwangaza issued a firm call to action to her base, revealing that the rallies will resume on Monday, July 28, 2025.
“We will not fear because we are on a mission. Starting Monday, July 28, we move forward without hesitation, kaende kaende,” she stated.
She maintained that no amount of intimidation or violent dispersals would stop the movement she believes is divinely inspired and people-driven.
Message to critics
In her emotive speech, Mwangaza lashed out at critics who continuously mention her name without clarity on their grievances.
“Some politicians and people keep talking about you but cannot even say clearly what they are shaky about. You will find a rally with over 70 leaders, and all they are saying is Kawira Mwangaza. The first stands and speaks about Kawira Mwangaza, and so do the rest,” she said, pointing out the obsession her opponents seem to have with her.

She also ridiculed her detractors, saying some of them are advanced in age and still involve their children in attacks against her.
“Some are old people, even 70 and 80, and they even drag their kids to speak about Kawira. But it is because I am moving forward with grace,” she added.
Drawing inspiration from the Bible, Mwangaza invoked the story of Nehemiah, urging her supporters not to cower in fear but to fight for the next generation.
“Never fear your enemies. Fight for your children – that is even what Nehemiah said in the Bible,” she stated.
She also asserted her resolve and declared that the Baite family, her political and social movement, would leave behind anyone unwilling to stand firm in the face of pressure.
“That is why we, as the Baite family, sometimes get to a point and say that if you are a coward, you have been left behind. If you do not attend our Okolea rally, you just left behind. We are moving ahead. We will be teargassed and even met with bullets, but we will not fear anything,” she declared.
