Kasmuel vows to step up fight against Sifuna amid recent party truce
By Luke Oluoch, January 9, 2026Orange Democratic Movement member Kasmuel McOure has vowed to continue his onslaught against the embattled Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, whom he claims has been overstepping his mandate with his utterances.
Speaking to a local radio station on Friday, January 9, 2025, he stated that he and the party’s youth members would continue to clamour for the removal of the SG to the very end and have him vacate his seat from ODM.
Must be dewhipped
“Sifuna must be dewhipped, and we will continue to lobby. We are making our case about it, as he has been used as a very dangerous mouthpiece, and for that, he has to leave his position as SG. His role as SG is well laid down, but he has been speaking not as the spokesperson but on his own personal proclamations and not those agreed upon by the party,” he explained.
“He (Sifuna) will not lie to us because he has gone to Baba’s compound to hug Mama; we will set forth to convince the party to oust him the same way he went to convince fellow politicians.”
McOure doubled down on his onslaughts with fresh claims that Sifuna is in office illegally.
“He is holding that position unconstitutionally; he was not elected by the National Delegates Conference (NDC), and he is an affirmative action candidate,” he stated.
He also explained his contention and basis for calling out the embattled SG amid an unclear stance on which direction the party will take regarding the 2027 elections.
His remarks come amid a move from the top party official to quell the simmering tension within the veteran outfit.

In a calculated move, ODM Leader Oburu Oginga held meetings with the feuding officials of the party in the past two days.
Oburu leads ODM truce meeting
The new acting party leader on Wednesday met up with Edwin Sifuna before hosting a similar meeting with Junet Mohammed on Thursday at his offices.
In a statement shared via its official X account, after the meeting with the National Assembly Minority Leader, ODM stated that the two revealed that the two leaders deliberated on matters relating to the Orange party.
“Minority Leader in the National Assembly @JunetMohamed today morning called on the Party Leader @DrOburu_O at his office in Nairobi. They deliberated on matters relating to the party and its growth as well as the state of politics in the country. #TukoTayari,” ODM stated.
The meeting came amidst mounting bids to oust Sifuna, which were put on hold after the party’s top organs intervened and proposed an in-house approach.
