Kasmuel defends governor Wanga over remarks about Gachagua and Kahiga
ODM Youth leader Kasmuel McOure has moved to defend Homa Bay Governor Glady Wanga over her remarks about DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua and Nyeri governor, Mutahi Kahiga.
Speaking to a local podcast, IKo Nini on Saturday, October 25, 2025, the ODM youth official stated that trying to incriminate the ODM governor was uncalled for.

McOure asserted that Wanga never uttered any divisive rhetoric while condemning the Nyeri Governor’s remarks about the sudden demise of ODM leader, Raila Odinga.
Bearing Responsibility
“Wanga said, we know the people speaking are stooges and other people’s mouthpieces. When Wanga or Sifuna speaks, they speak on behalf of ODM. Why not for Kahiga? He has been working with Gachagua on the campaign trail,” he stated.

“Wanga did not say any incriminating thing. She never once said that no one is welcome in Bondo. Those remarks were made by a different person,” he added.
“If you are holding Kahiga for his own utterances, there is no need to hold Wanga or the entire ODM for the utterances of another leader,” he added.
Kahiga’s remarks on Raila
The youthful politician also revealed the most shocking and disturbing context of Kahiga’s unfortunate remarks on Raila, asserting that the reaction of the people at the venue spoke volumes on the issues of tribalism that remain unspoken.
“The MP was in a public function, and nobody walked out; people were clapping and laughing. He was doing that at another person’s funeral. We are missing much context in this situation; These are the things that are said in whispers. We had people who were celebrating even after Raila’s AUC bid,”
Kahiga later resigned as the vice chair of the Council of Governors following a backlash from political leaders and the public.
Speaking at the same function, McOure also critiqued the historical challenges faced by the Orange Democratic Movement since 2007.
“People have been killing ODM since 2007. The party has never enjoyed power. KANU ilikufa na ilikuwa ruling party. Jubilee imekuja tu juzi na ilikuwa ruling party. All the ruling parties zimededi,” he said.
