Kasmuel casts doubt on opposition leaders’ capacity to drive change
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth leader Kasmuel McOure has expressed doubts in the United opposition’s capacity to drive change in the country if they were to replace President William Ruto after the 2027 polls.
Speaking to a local TV interview on Friday, October 31, 2025, McOure stated the brigade is comprised of people who have never proved to be reliable when in positions of power and could not be relied on now to usher in fresh leadership.
Not capable
“The opposition must be looked at critically and with surgical precision. For Gachagua, we must not forget the role he played in 2024, while we were on the streets. He was the sitting DP; someone like Lintuyri sold us the fake fertilisers, but he now claims he wants to come back and liberate the nation. We can’t find people of integrity there to take us forward. They have not proven vigorous enough to inspire new ideas and vision,” he stated.

He also urged young people to take an active role in demanding change and effecting better leadership in the country.
“I am telling the young people that we need to go speak at these offices of influence and have dialogue to change this nation,” he added.

His remarks come after he equally challenged the nation’s leadership to draw lessons from the ongoing unrest witnessed in Tanzania.
Kasmuel stated that the events in Tanzania have valid lessons about what responsible leadership entails.
“The demos are a clarion for the leaders; they should have leadership that cares for the people, preserve and address the shrinking democracy, and fulfill their promises to the people,” he added.
He also praised the emergence of an ever-enlightened and politically conscious youth.
“Young people have come of age with no opportunity despite studying, and they have shown that when things are not right, they will demand change,” he added.
