Azimio One Kenya Coalition Presidential contest running mate Martha Karua yesterday said corruption will be eradicated if they form the next government.

Addressing several roadside meetings in Nyandarua County, Karua accused Kenya Kwanza leaders of deliberately avoiding the issue of fighting corruption during their gatherings.

She said without dealing with corruption, the country cannot be developed because money meant for development will be lost.

“They (Kenya Kwanza) will come here and tell you how much money they will set aside for this and that project but they will not talk about corruption.

“Without dealing with corruption and stealing of public money, nothing will be realised by any administration,” she said, adding the Azimio government will ensure the country is free of corruption.

She urged people to only elect leaders who will respect public resources and work for the electorate, saying: “If you elect leaders who are not respectable, don’t expect respect from them.” Karua reminded the gatherings those in the campaigns are Kenyans and will remain so after the elections.

“Those who will lose will go home in a respectable manner and the winners should take leadership with respect.” She appealed to Nyandarua residents to vote for Raila Odinga in the August 9 election saying: “So that he can implement his dream of a Kenya that respects the rights of the people.”

“You all know Raila, a person who has fought for the rights of Kenyans whether he is in government or not.”

She said Raila is a mature and patriotic person and will be defending the rights of Kenyans if elected president.
