Karen Nyamu: There is no serious competitor for Ruto in 2027

By , January 21, 2026

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has dismissed the opposition, saying no one among its members could seriously compete against William Ruto in the forthcoming general elections.

Karen has termed individuals who have recently joined the opposition united to have one fate of losing against Ruto despite the loud one-term chants.

Taking it to her social media platform on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the outspoken senator said the chants for one term for President Ruto will eventually bear no fruits hinting at the possibility of the opposition taking an election petition to the Supreme Court after the aftermath of the general elections.

“I laugh when I see people who just joined the opposition loudly pushing the wantam agenda. Who will tell them? Who will tell them that opposition in Kenya has only one fate, even with fierce competition? “Karen Nyamu posed.

Nyamu dismisses opposition’s lineup

Senator Karen has a question about who among the united opposition will be posed to beat Ruto in the elections between the Wiper Movement, Kalonzo Musyoka and former cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i.

“This time round, honestly, I see no serious match for Dr William Ruto. So, when you shout wantam with your chest, are you betting on Kalonzo? Matiang’i? To beat WSR? Andikeni wantam pole pole mnatushoutia andindikeni kama ni possibility. After wantam, there will be kimeibiwo. My advice is spare some energy for the Supreme Court ruling tears in September 2027,” added Karen

Senator Karen Nyamu has been one of the most vocal proponents of President Ruto’s reelection in the mountain region and Nairobi and has occasionally been making sentiments to dismiss the united opposition given to the fact that she was nominated by the ruling party, UDA, in the Senate after unsuccessfully vying for the county woman MP in the 2022 general elections.
