Kamau Ngotho: They are panicking because of the love Ol Kalou has shown me
By David Nthua, July 12, 2026Democracy for Citizens’ Party candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho says the support shown to him by Ol Kalou voters has unsettled his opponents.
This is even as the July 16, 2026 parliamentary by-election enters its decisive phase.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, July 11, 2026, Ngotho presented his campaign as a people-driven movement whose momentum could no longer be stopped.
“They can try to stop it. They can try to delay it, but you cannot stop an idea whose time has come. Change is coming soon,” he wrote.
Ngotho repeated the Kikuyu phrase “Kaba ihinda ria Ngai”, meaning “it is better the season of God”, before declaring that voters had made a firm decision.

“Now I understand why they are panicking. It’s the love you have shown. It’s the commitment you have made. It’s your firm decision,” he said.
He did not identify those he accused of panicking but insisted that “the train has left the station” and the people were driving it.
UDA mounts response
UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah projected confidence after campaigning at Kanjuiri Centre.
“Every meeting across Ol Kalou confirms one thing: our people are ready to turn the page. They are choosing leadership that listens, acts and delivers,” Muchina wrote.
He urged voters to make history on July 16, 2026, saying victory belonged to the people.
The contest has developed into a battle between DCP and UDA, with both parties seeking to demonstrate strength in Nyandarua and Mt Kenya before 2027.

Videos showed the vehicle being pelted with stones, while DCP leaders said guns and tear gas were used.
Battle for 72,997 votes
The 2022 IEBC register listed 72,997 voters in Ol Kalou, placing turnout and mobilisation at the centre of the by-election.
Ngotho enters the contest with an established electoral base. In 2022, he challenged three-term MP David Kiaraho and finished second.
Kiaraho retained the seat with 24,058 votes, while Ngotho, then running on a UDA ticket, received 19,380 votes.
Kiaraho’s death in March 2026 triggered the by-election, now a test of Mt Kenya’s shifting political loyalties.
