Kaluma declares Homa Bay’s loyalty to govt, mocks protesters
Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has openly bragged about his close ties with the government, saying his people have no time for protests as they are now benefiting from development and state power.
In a statement shared via his X account on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Kaluma announced that a series of government projects are set to be launched in Homa Bay starting Monday, July 7, 2025.
He praised the move as a major milestone, indicating that the region is finally reaping the rewards of aligning with the ruling administration.
“The Government will be in Homa Bay from Monday, July 7, 2025, for various development programmes. We are busy rebuilding after decades of discrimination and neglect. Our people have no time for demonstrations. Let those entitled tribalists loot and destroy their property,” Kaluma posted.

The vocal legislator, known for his fiery statements, has in the recent past become a fierce defender of the Kenya Kwanza government.
Kaluma has made it clear that he wants no part in what he describes as useless street demonstrations, arguing that his community has long suffered at the forefront of Kenya’s political struggles and deserves to focus on growth and progress.
The vocal legislator expressed frustration over what he termed as the exploitation of his community in past struggles, noting that they had spent decades on the frontlines of political activism and resistance, often at great personal cost.
According to Kaluma, his people have paid their dues, having participated in countless demonstrations throughout Kenya’s post-independence history in pursuit of justice and democratic freedoms.
Now, Kaluma said, it was time for them to focus on nation-building and governance rather than continued protest.
He portrayed the demonstrations as unproductive and outdated.
“Our people will not join you in your useless street protests. We have been on the streets, dying for you, since independence. We are in government, busy rebuilding after years of neglect,” he declared.
