United opposition

This comes at a time when opposition leaders have united under one cause, with the aim of ensuring that the current Ruto-led regime remains a one-term government.

The group, which refers to itself as the United Opposition, is composed of leaders all eyeing the top seat but who have declared that, at the appropriate time, they will set aside their individual ambitions and rally behind a single candidate to challenge the President.

PLP leader Martha Karua, who is also a key member of the United Opposition, has echoed the same position, stating that she is ready to shelve her presidential ambitions in support of the chosen candidate. However, she made it clear that she will not accept to serve as anyone’s running mate.

This development comes as the former Deputy President returns to the country after a six-week tour of the United States.
