Kalonzo puts IEBC on notice over election fraud
Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has cautioned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over the election fraud as the country prepares for the fast-approaching 2027 general election.
Kalonzo was speaking on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, while joined by fellow principals in the United Opposition, Rigathi Gachagua and Eugene Wamalwa, and Members of Parliament in Ithanga, Murang’a, during the burial of the late Herbert Kariithi Macharia.
In his sentiments, Musyoka accused the Commission of being obedient to Executive orders, linking IEBC to election malpractices witnessed during the by-election conducted on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
In the particular mini-polls, the United Opposition protested against electoral fraud that saw several of their candidates vying for different elective seats lose to pro-government candidates.
Election fraud
”As we pay our final respects to Herbert Kariithi Macharia, I assure Hon Pelagia and every other aspiring leader that we will not allow the current IEBC to stand in the way of the people’s will. The country knows this is a Ruto commission. We have seen the fraud committed during the last byelections. We shall pursue private prosecution where accountability is required,” Kalonzo said.
The former Vice President has also predicted victory for the United Opposition, a win that will not be tampered with. Kalonzo Musyoka has further revealed that the opposition will protect the youth from what he terms disregard for their lives.

”Kenya must have free and fair elections. As the government-in-waiting, we stand united. We carry a duty to protect our youth and to defend their future from a regime that has shown disregard for their lives. Our love for this nation remains our strongest motivation. Just as President Kibaki won with a margin that no one could steal, we will deliver a victory that cannot be tampered with. The will of the people will triumph.” Kalonzo Muyoka said.
Ethekon’s track record
Kalonzo Musyoka’s caution against election fraud comes a day after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson, Erastus Ethekon, has outlined operational achievements recorded under his leadership during the recent electoral exercise, noting that the Commission’s focus on efficiency, transparency, and integrity paid off across the country.
Speaking during a November 27, 2025, by-election review on Monday, December 8, 2025, Ethekon praised the Commission staff, field officers, and partner agencies for delivering what he described as one of the most smoothly managed operations in recent years, contrary to violent incidents witnessed in the mini polls.
