Kalonzo Musyoka: No more visits to the Inspector General of Police
By Cynthia Lodite, February 19, 2026Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced the cancellation of scheduled visits to the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja by the United Opposition leaders.
In a statement on his official X account on Thursday, February 19, 2026, Kalonzo expressed the leaders’ disappointment after a planned visit to the police boss was cancelled.
“The United Alternative Government hereby announces that we shall not be returning to the office of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo explained the challenges encountered in the quest to find answers following the Othaya attack, accusing Kanja of being tied politically.
“We therefore find it not only unnecessary, but a disservice to Kenyans, to continue engaging an Inspector General whose hands have been tied by his political masters, and who presides over a force that has been turned into a private militia for the protection of those in power,” Kalonzo stated.
Kalonzo maintained that the United Opposition leaders will not legitimise, obstruct, or engage in political interference by continuing to make ceremonial visits to an office that has chosen silence over accountability.

Postponed meeting
According to Kalonzo, a follow-up meeting for February 16, 2026, at which the Inspector General was to brief the leaders on the Othaya incident progress was cancelled.
“Upon honouring that appointment, we were informed he was unavailable until February 20, 2026,” Kalonzo said.
On the other hand, Kalonzo has stated that the investigations into the Witima ACK Church attack have been concluded, linking twelve police officers to the attack.
Kalonzo has further accused two Members of Parliament from Murang’a and Nyeri counties of playing a part in the Othaya incident.
“We have however, since been reliably informed that investigations into the Witima ACK Church attack have in fact been concluded. The perpetrators have been identified: twelve police officers who executed the attack using two Land Cruiser vehicles from Nairobi. The financiers have also been identified: two Members of Parliament from Murang’a and Nyeri counties,” he added.
“Justice for the victims of Witima ACK Church will be served, with or without the cooperation of a compromised Inspector General, a complicit Cabinet Secretary, or a government that believes it is above the law,” read the statement in part.
