Kabuchai MP hosts Sifuna as leaders head to the burial of ex Bungoma governor’s father
By Mabonga Makhanu, May 30, 2026Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga has hosted Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna while en route to the burial of the father of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, which will take place in his constituency on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The MP, who is part of the Linda Mwananchi team and has been accompanying Edwin Sifuna to various rallies around the country, exchanged warm greetings with Sifuna as he took him around his homestead, showcasing his house.

The house was recently pelted with stones during the Chewele Kabuchai campaigns, where he was supporting an independent candidate, Vincent Wekesa.

While explaining to Sifuna, he linked the stoning of his house to supporters of the Moses Wetang’ula-led Ford Kenya party, saying they should be held responsible for the destruction, which has forced him to dig deep into his pocket to carry out the necessary repairs.
The funeral
This comes ahead of the high-stakes funeral ceremony, where Patrick Wangamati, a former nominated MP and father to Wycliffe Wangamati, will be laid to rest just a few metres from Majimbo Kalasinga’s home.
At the funeral, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya is expected to meet face to face with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula for a second time.

The outspoken governor announced that the day will mark the unveiling of the political lineup, which, according to him, will sweep the 2027 general election.
“It will be during Wyckliffe Wanganamati’s father’s time when we will unveil the lineup which will lead Kenya in 2027. We are going to make a political declaration: that if you are not with us, it will be the end of your political career.”
“During that funeral on May 30, 2026, we will also bury many political careers, especially for those seasoned politicians who have brought no meaningful change to the community.”
He added that the burial ceremony will also symbolise the end of certain political careers, especially for leaders who, according to him, have spent years in politics without delivering meaningful development to the Western region.
Kabuchai MP Sifuna bromance
Majimbo Kalasinga and Edwin Sifuna have been political allies in recent times.
Kalasinga and his Bumula counterpart, Jack Wamboka, have been at the forefront of championing Sifuna, saying he is the region’s leader and that anyone who does not align with him should forget about being re-elected in 2027.
They further stated that Sifuna is the region’s presidential candidate and is the person they will rally behind.
