Junet: We have thwarted attempts to mislead our ODM supporters
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed delivered a sharp message at an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) rally in Siaya County, targeting critics within the party.
He said the party is moving to sideline members he described as conflicted, corrupted, and owned by a puppet master.
“In Siaya we delivered our message of party unity, loyalty and fidelity to the core principles of the ODM Party. We have thwarted attempts to mislead our party supporters by those wearing other jerseys while invoking the name of our late party leader,” Junet wrote on X.
“We are on course to permanently consign to the basement of history those too conflicted, corrupted and owned by the puppet master to openly turn up in ODM party colours.”
Junet said ODM now holds more power both on the ground and in government rooms than ever before. He urged supporters to remain committed as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
“Our party is stronger on the ground and more entrenched in the rooms of power than ever before.
As we consolidate, strengthen and build for 2027, I urge you to remain firm and unmoved — because we shall triumph,” he said.
The rally was part of the “Linda Ground” tours, which aim to consolidate ODM’s base.

Oburu calls for unity
At the same rally on Saturday, February 21, 2026, ODM party leader Oburu Odinga took a calmer approach. He stressed that the party would not expel members.
“What we want is the unity of our party. We are not expelling anybody from the party, but anybody who feels that he is uncomfortable with us can leave if he likes. Anybody who is uncomfortable can do what? Can leave if they like,” Oburu said.
Oburu said ODM is preparing for next year’s election and will negotiate on policies, development programmes, and power-sharing.
“We are going to negotiate on policies. We are going to negotiate on development programmes. We are also going to negotiate on sharing of positions, which includes sharing power,” he said.
He dismissed claims that the party is rushing early talks.
“I don’t know why some people are saying we are in a hurry. We are not, because people are already preparing for the next general election. We cannot sit back,” he added.

Oburu also again addressed ODM’s exit from the Azimio coalition
“There is an organisation called Azimio where we were, and that Azimio died the day ODM left it. We left Azimio a long time ago; it’s only that we had not formalised it. But now we have passed a resolution to formalise our exit from Azimio, and it is going to be done,” he said.
He also reminded supporters that political parties exist to seek power, not to remain in opposition.
“There is no political party that is formed just to remain in opposition. We have been in opposition for a long time, and this time round we are going to make sure that we are in power,” he said.
