Jubilee Party expands grassroots presence with Gatundu South office launch
By Faith Lagat, April 17, 2026The Jubilee Party will open its Gatundu South constituency office in Kiambu County on April 17, 2026, as part of its ongoing effort to strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The event will be held at Wara House, opposite Gatundu Hospital, starting at 10:00 am. Fred Matiang’i, Jubilee deputy leader and the party’s presidential flagbearer, will serve as the chief guest.
The launch follows a series of similar office openings across the country as the party expands its organisational presence at the county and constituency level.
“The event will be held at Wara House, opposite Gatundu Hospital, starting at 10:00 am,” read Matiang’i’s X post dated April 16, 2026.

Grassroots expansion and party mobilisation
The Gatundu South office launch is part of Jubilee’s broader strategy to establish operational offices in all 47 counties. The party has recently opened offices in several regions, including Narok, Samburu, Nakuru, Nyeri and Nyandarua, as part of its mobilisation drive.
The offices are intended to support party coordination, membership recruitment and voter engagement activities at the local level. Jubilee officials say the structures are aimed at strengthening communication between national leadership and grassroots supporters.
Matiang’i has led several of the recent launches, using the events to outline the party’s focus on rebuilding its organisational base and increasing voter mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Symbolism of Gatundu South launch
Gatundu South in Kiambu County carries historical and political significance as part of the former Jubilee Party stronghold in Central Kenya. The establishment of a constituency office in the area forms part of the party’s efforts to expand its presence in regions where it previously held strong influence.
The office is expected to serve as a coordination centre for party activities, including membership registration and community engagement. The launch also comes as political parties intensify preparations for the next electoral cycle.
Electoral concerns and party positioning
The office expansion comes amid ongoing debate over electoral processes and voter registration. Jubilee Party Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta has previously raised concerns over an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission directive requiring re-registration for some voters registered before the introduction of biometric systems in 2012.
The IEBC has maintained that only individuals who were not captured after 2012 are required to register afresh, stating that the current voter register remains valid.
Jubilee Party officials say the grassroots office network will also support voter mobilisation efforts and encourage registration among eligible voters ahead of the 2027 General Election. The party continues to position its organisational expansion as part of its preparation for the upcoming polls.
