Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has delivered an emotional tribute to opposition leader Raila Odinga, framing him as a towering national figure whose ideals, sacrifices, and long struggle for justice will continue to shape Kenya’s political future.

In a reflective statement shared on X on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, Kioni spoke not in the language of political rivalry, but in tones of remembrance, responsibility, and warning, at a time when Raila’s legacy remains a subject of sharp national debate.

“Jakom, we speak of you now in reflection. Not in anger that you are gone, but in love for the nation you gave your life to,” the statement read in part.

Kioni’s words cast Raila as a leader whose contribution transcended elections and political office. He portrayed him as someone who dedicated his life to shaping the country’s democratic journey, often at great personal cost. By choosing a reflective tone, Kioni signalled that the statement was not about settling political scores, but about calling the nation to pause and reckon with the values Raila stood for. For many Kenyans, Raila’s name is inseparable from the push for multiparty democracy, constitutional reform, and expanded political freedoms.

“May your love for Kenya discipline our politics, may your courage shame our cowardice, may your passion for a fairer, safer Kenya disturb us, guide us, and compel us to finish the work you so courageously began, and above all, may your lifelong fight for justice refuse to let us settle for comfort over truth,” he wrote

Kioni challenged both leaders and citizens to reflect on their own roles in the country’s future. He suggested that Raila’s legacy should not merely be remembered, but actively lived through ethical leadership, courage, and honesty in public life. Kioni called for resistance to political complacency, especially at a time when Kenyans are grappling with economic hardship, governance concerns, and deep political divisions.

“May your spirit haunt those who plot to destroy what you built, who dream of undoing the justice, dignity, and hope you fought for. May it serveas an unrelenting reminder that the ideals you lived for cannot be silenced, and that every attempt to tarnish your legacy will only strengthen its light,” Kioni stated

Kioni warned Raila’s critics, insisting that efforts to undermine his contribution to Kenya’s history would ultimately fail.
