Isaac Mwaura: Kenyans will love Ruto so much at the end of his tenure
By Arnold Ngure, August 11, 2025Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has stated that Kenyans will love President William Ruto at the end of his tenure.
In a statement on Monday, August 11, 2025, Mwaura indicated that Ruto’s initiative to lift millions out of poverty will only be seen at the end of his tenure.
“President William Samoei Ruto is such a transformational leader. By the end of his tenure, Kenyans will love him so much for being so intentional in executing his vision for the country, undeterred, fearless, determined, and committed to lifting millions of hustlers out of poverty,” Mwaura said.
Headed in the wrong direction
While a significant section of the population believes that the country is headed in the wrong direction, Ruto has maintained a bullish front that some of the unpopular policy decisions he is making at the moment could turn out as the best projects in the country.

Ruto’s administration faces significant public discontent, which could impact his re-election bid in 2027. While he is faced with the youth agitation on the one hand, he has also opened another battle front with his former allies from the Mount Kenya region.
A major source of this discontent is a series of youth-led protests, organized digitally and referred to as the Gen Z protests.
Political calculations
These demonstrations, which have occurred across numerous counties, are a powerful repudiation of Ruto’s government. The protesters are voicing anger over the high cost of living, which has been exacerbated by government tax policies, as well as high unemployment, particularly among the youth.

A recent survey highlighted that for young Kenyans, health, the cost of living, and unemployment are the top three most important problems the government needs to address.
Although Ruto’s political fortunes have been complicated by these challenges, his re-election prospects are still a topic of debate.
His political strategy involves building new coalitions, including potential partnerships with former rival Raila Odinga. This has led to divisions within both his own party and the opposition, creating a fluid political landscape.
Meanwhile, the lack of a clear, unified rival to Ruto on the horizon could be a factor in his favor.
