Hata kutoa sadaka kwake ni ngumu – Ruto takes swipe at Raila
Deputy President William Ruto has once again taken a swipe at his fierce political rival and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, accusing him of being stingy.
Speaking to religious leaders from Samburu and Kajiado counties on Tuesday at his official residence in Karen, DP Ruto claimed that Raila is stingy and cannot be entrusted with the leadership of the country.
According to him, Raila has a problem taking part in fundraisers which are meant to improve the lives of ordinary people.
Ruto, therefore, asked Kenyans to avoid a leader who does not stand with them at times of need.
“Yule rafiki yetu (Raila) hajui harambee ya kanisa, hakuji ya shule, hakuji ya akina mama. Hata sadaka peke yake ni problem kwake (Our friend doesn’t take part in fundraisers that take place in churches, schools or even those organized by women groups. I understand that even giving offerings in a church is a problem to him),” Ruto said.
“Unajua kuna watu wako an bahati sana kwasababu huyo mtu hata sadak hatoi na anapata kura elfu hishirini, unashang’aa hii elfu ishirini ametoa wapi? na amepata kwa sababu gani. Lakini safari hii, wakenya wamechanuka (Some people are very lucky to an extent that they still get votes even without giving offerings in church. You wonder why they get the votes yet they have done nothing to the people),” he added.
Ruto’s allies also slammed Raila for failing to take part in church developments.
Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua also accused the ODM chief of simply taking the government’s projects to his political backyard and abandoning other regions.
“He used to say that he couldn’t help people because he wasn’t in the government but when he got into a handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, he has taken all developments to Kisumu,” Rigathi claimed.
Ruto and his allies have now urged Kenyans to vote for people whose track records can be seen.
