Governor Arati launches PLWD registration drive
Parents with family members and children living with disabilities have been urged to register them in order to get support from the county government to improve their lives.
Kisii governor Simba Arati said the county government has social and economic programs to help the people and children living with disabilities to exploit their potential.
He said the government has launched massive registration of children and People Living with Disabilities and ensured public offices are friendly to them to enable them access government services with ease.
The governor noted that the county has programs to train PLWDS, acquire skills and support them with tools to venture into income generating activities to boost their lives.
He was speaking at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after he presented artificial limbs to 88 PLWDS co-supported by the Oshwal community in India through Dr Anil Tailor.
“Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital amputates 4 people per month due to non-communicable diseases like cancer, diabetes and accidents,” Arati said.
Accompanied by Health Executive Committee Member, Ronald Nyakweba, he urged community health workers and medics to sensitise people in the county to embrace proper diet to curb lifestyle diseases.
