By Clement.Kamau, April 6, 2023
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has laughed Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coloration’s threat it will resume demonstrations should talks with the government collapse.
Gachagua said the government will not allow property and loss of lives should demonstrations resume.
“I said it then that we won’t allow goons to destroy our people’s businesses and property. I have no regrets and it should dawn on them that it will not be business as usual next time,” he said.
He also laughed off assertions by opposition leader Raila Odinga that he can’t shake his (Gachagua’s) hands.
He says that he also cannot shake Raila’s hands jokingly claiming, “wueh, I can’t greet him lest he confuses me as he has confused those who dine with him”.
The DP reiterated that the government will no longer allow anyone to destroy property under the guise of demonstration.
He says that the opposition is free to hold anti-government protests but warned that the same should be done within the confines of the law.
