Gachagua’s US tour enters 5th state after landing in Missouri

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has landed in the midwestern state of Missouri, marking his fifth state since he began his two-month tour of the United States of America.

In a statement on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Gachagua posted pictures of himself and his spouse, Dorcas Rigathi, being received at the Kansas City International Airport by a group of Kenyans in the diaspora.

“In our diaspora engagement tour of the USA, we head to Kansas City to a warm welcome by Kenyans living and working in Kansas. Safely arrived at Kansas City International Airport, Missouri. We are looking forward to a great conversation on our nation, Kenya,” Gachagua said.

First international trip of 2025

Gachagua’s extensive tour of the USA began on July 9, 2025, when he made his first international trip out of the country since his impeachment on October 17, 2024.

The former deputy president has toured Washington, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Texas, where he was recently engaging Kenyans in the diaspora.

In each of these locations, Gachagua has held town hall meetings and social forums, aiming to connect directly with Kenyans living abroad.

Second month in USA

These gatherings provide a platform for him to share his political message, listen to the concerns of the diaspora community, and potentially engage with American business leaders and investors.

He enters his second leg of the two-month visit to the USA, where he is expected to engage with Kenyans from several other states in the expansive North American country.

Leading the newly formed Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), Gachagua aims to rally support for his political agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections, positioning himself as a key opposition figure and a viable alternative to the current leadership.

Gachagua’s engagements are designed to bolster his influence and articulate his vision for Kenya’s future to a crucial segment of the electorate.

Back home, Gachagua’s detractors have been keenly following his US diaspora engagements and have been castigating his remarks to Kenyans living in the USA.

Gachagua has equally faced tough audiences in the USA, with one of the highlights being a Gen Z challenging him to fashion himself as a national leader.
