Gachagua cautions UDA politicians against 2032 succession politics

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked politicians within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to stop politics revolving around the 2032 succession.
The DP made the remarks in Kipkok, Sigowet-Soin Constituency, Kericho County, on Saturday, June 8, 2024, during a church fundraiser.
The second-in-command also warned against divisive politics within their party.
“I want to ask our leaders in Kenya Kwanza to drop this agitation. Drop divisive talk. Stop creating factions in our government and focus. The most important business of the day is to ensure President Ruto succeeds. That is my focus and commitment. When people start the succession politics of 2032, it causes distraction.
“I want to ask our leaders to stop; 2032 is very far away, it is unnecessary, it is unhelpful, it is inappropriate, and it is irritating. Let all of us serve the people of Kenya and support the president to succeed,” Gachagua said, as quoted by a local publication.
Although there has been a visible contradiction between him and President William Ruto in recent times, Gachagua exuded confidence that the Head of State will deliver on his election promises.
“When President Ruto wanted someone to stand with him, I was there. We campaigned for him. He is a product of our effort; our work is to support him,” he added.
In a separate statement on his X handle, the former Mathira Member of Parliament hailed the church for its role in national development.
“The church is a pillar of our community and society. We have a responsibility to support the church in its activities to be effective, as they contribute to the socio-economic development of our nation. It was a pleasure praying and worshipping with the faithful of the Peace and Mercy Church of Africa (PMCA), as we also raised funds for the development of the House of God,” Gachagua said.
Kericho Governor Erick Mutai, Kericho Senator, who is also the Senate Majority Leader, Aaron Cheruiyot, Woman Representative Beatrice Kemei, Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno, and host Member of the County Assembly Erick Bii attended the function graced by Gachagua.
