Gachagua names Ukambani MP being used by Ruto to undermine Kalonzo
By Luke Oluoch, October 6, 2025Democracy for Citizens Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has called out a leading Ukambani MP, whom he claims is being used by President William Ruto to undermine Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking in Mwala on Monday, October 6, 2025, Gachagua stated that area MP Vincent Musyoka, also known as Kawaya, is being used to undermine Kalonzo in the region.
The former DP called on his constituents to take action against him by voting him out and replacing him with a loyalist.
Earlier, the second deputy president had urged Ukambani to unite with Central Kenya for an alliance to oust Ruto in 2027.
Not a loyalist
“The is one thing you have not done right here is electing a person who is not loyal to Kalonzo. The MP you have is the one being used by Ruto to undermine Kalonzo. You have to give Kalonzo representatives from Wiper who are loyal to him. You cannot lack men to do that,” he stated.
The DCP leader further reiterated calls for the region to vote in MPs loyal to the Wiper, stressing the importance of having loyal lieutenants around Kalonzo.

Speaking at the same function, Gachagua slammed Ruto for his continued overtures to lure the Wiper Party leader to the government.
He challenged the head of state to end his obsession with Kalonzo, stressing that the leader had no time for him.

Not available
“Ruto ridiculed Kalonzo, saying he is a mere dengu farmer. I want to tell him to leave Kalonzo alone. He is not available for you,” he stated.
The former Deputy President’s comments followed increasing government efforts to gain Kalonzo’s support ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking to a delegation of grassroots leaders from Kitui County on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki stated that he had not given up on convincing Kalonzo to join the government.
The DP termed Kalonzo a noble man who was keeping the company of wrong politicians.
Noble man
“Kalonzo is a noble and decent man, but he has aligned himself with people promoting divisive rhetoric. I have still not given up on that brother of mine. We cannot accept our brother, a learned man and a scholar to be influenced by people promoting sectarianism,” he said in reference to Kalonzo.
