Opposition figureheads Kalonzo Musyoka of the Wiper Party and his Democracy For Citizens Party (DCP), Rigathi Gachagua, are expected to lead the united opposition tour of Kajiado County on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Gachagua joined the faithful of the JEC Bethsaida church in attending the church service in Kaputei North, Kajiado East, Kajiado County, alongside Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo.

Offensive charm

Their entourage also had a host of grassroots leaders seeking various leadership positions under the DCP party.

Among them was Dan Kanchory, who is eyeing the Kajiado Senate seat in 2027, currently held by Senator Lenku Seki, another close confidant of Gachagua’s

The former DP was joined by Kalonzo, who made his way to the venue minutes after the turn of midday.

As part of the team’s entourage, the politicians are set to tour Kitengela town in a continued charm offensive towards the greater Maa community.

The visit comes months after Gachagua promised the residents of the region that they will be at the forefront of his political agenda.

Speaking in March 2025, ahead of the launch of his party, the politician thanked the county and its residents for continuously supporting him and declared that he was orchestrating rewards for them as he charged himself up to take over the country’s leadership.

Gachagua, who hailed himself as the kingpin of the Mt Kenya region,  went ahead to express his joy, stating that the majority of elected leaders from Kajiado are currently backing him.

Opposition unity

The event comes amid heightened concerns about the opposition unity heading to the decisive 2027 polls.

Speaking on Sunday, September 7, 2025, during a church service in Kipipiri, Gachagua assured that opposition politicians had resolved to keep their unity under the United People’s opposition with the sole purpose of unseating President William Ruto’s regime.

“We have agreed as a united opposition, and we have committed to producing one candidate to fight against Ruto,” he stated.

Gachagua also used the opportunity to rally the team behind the opposition and the candidate they will settle on to battle it out against Ruto in the 2027 polls.

“If we agree it is Kalonzo, will you support him? If it is Karua, will you vote for her?” he posed the question. If they decide I’m the one to run, then I will give Ruto a run for his money,” he added.
