Full list of politicians on the Linda Mwananchi Kisii-Nyamira tour

The Linda Mwananchi movement has assembled one of its biggest political delegations yet as it takes its nationwide civic engagement campaign to Kisii and Nyamira counties, bringing together an array of opposition leaders, governors, senators, lawyers and activists ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The Gusii tour, which began in Mosocho before proceeding to Kisii Town, Keumbu and Keroka, is part of the movement’s grassroots campaign focusing on governance, constitutionalism, accountability, the cost of living and youth empowerment. The tour was initially slated for June 26, 2027, but was twice postponed, first following the death of Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka’s mother and later to allow members to participate in the June 25 memorial protests.

Several leaders confirmed their participation through posts on their official social media platforms ahead of Friday’s rallies.

David Maraga

Former Chief Justice David Maraga emerged as one of the headline figures after joining the Linda Mwananchi team in Kisii.

Ahead of the rally, Maraga hosted members of the delegation and later accompanied them during the public engagements across Kisii County. His participation was confirmed through posts shared by both the movement and media outlets covering the event.

During the rally, Maraga declared that he had joined hands with Linda Mwananchi because Kenyans wanted leaders committed to fighting corruption and restoring constitutional governance.

Edwin Sifuna

ODM Secretary-General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has remained one of the movement’s principal mobilisers.

A day before the Kisii tour, Sifuna published the day’s programme on his social media pages, confirming that the team would begin with a meeting in Mosocho before holding rallies in Kisii Town, Keumbu and Keroka.

At the rallies, he criticised President William Ruto’s administration over governance, police conduct and the economy while urging opposition leaders to remain united ahead of 2027.

James Orengo

Siaya Governor James Orengo also joined the caravan, with videos from the Kisii rally showing supporters welcoming him alongside other opposition leaders.

Orengo addressed residents on constitutional governance, devolution and the need for institutional accountability as the movement continued its outreach across the region.

Babu Owino

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was among the politicians whose attendance had been advertised by the organisers before the event and who later joined the Kisii rally.

The outspoken legislator has become a regular feature of the Linda Mwananchi campaigns, particularly during rallies targeting young voters.

He arrived in Kisii for the rally in the company of Orengo.

Faith Odhiambo

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo confirmed her participation through social media ahead of the tour, urging residents of Kisii and Nyamira to attend the engagements.

She has consistently used the Linda Mwananchi platform to advocate for constitutionalism, the rule of law and accountability.

During the tour, she criticised President William Ruto’s administration over the persistence of gender-based violence cases in the country.

Godfrey Osotsi

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi joined the Gusii delegation after travelling to Kisii ahead of the rallies.

Osotsi has been part of the movement’s previous engagements in Thika, Kitengela, Mombasa and other towns, where he has called for opposition unity.

Irungu Kang’ata

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata was another notable attendee.

Before the rallies, Kang’ata shared images from Kisii, including one displaying the opposition’s “Wantam” hand gesture alongside fellow leaders. He later joined Maraga and other members of the caravan during the public meetings.

Clive Gisairo

Kitutu Masaba MP Clive Gisairo welcomed the Linda Mwananchi team to Gusii through his social media platforms and participated in mobilising supporters for the regional tour.

Gisairo has become one of the movement’s most visible organisers in the Gusii region.

Caroli Omondi

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s long-time legal adviser Caroli Omondi, who was unveiled during the Linda Mwananchi Kisii tour as the movement’s spokesperson, also featured prominently during the Kisii engagements as the coalition continued to build its organisational structure.

Other notable leaders in attendance

The Kisii-Nyamira edition of the Linda Mwananchi tour also attracted a host of other politicians and public figures.

Among those present were Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi, who has been one of the movement’s vocal supporters and mobilisers in the Gusii region. Kibagendi welcomed fellow leaders to Kisii and participated in the public engagements alongside other opposition figures.

Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge was also in attendance and shared updates as she travelled with the delegation to Kisii. She joined leaders at the various stops, where she reiterated calls for accountable leadership and citizen participation.

Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, who hosted the delegation in the region, was among the key organisers of the tour. Earlier plans for the Kisii rallies had been adjusted following the death of his mother before the events were eventually rescheduled. Onyonka later joined the leaders during the public meetings across Kisii and Nyamira.

Also present was Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga, who has increasingly associated himself with opposition activities under the Linda Mwananchi banner. His attendance highlighted the movement’s efforts to attract leaders from across different political parties and regions.

Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu was another notable participant in the Gusii tour. The Wiper legislator joined fellow Members of Parliament and opposition leaders during the engagements, signalling broader support for the movement beyond its traditional support bases.

A growing opposition platform

The Linda Mwananchi movement has in recent months held similar public engagements in Busia, Kitengela, Mombasa, Kakamega, Narok, Kisumu and Thika as opposition leaders seek to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections.

The campaign says its forums are intended to engage citizens on governance, economic challenges, constitutional rights and public accountability.

Political observers view the Kisii-Nyamira tour as particularly significant because of the region’s growing importance in national politics following the emergence of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i as a key opposition figure.
