Former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa has revealed his bid to succeed Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, whom he says has revealed his ambitions of going for a higher political seat.

Wamalwa, who vied against Natembeya for the Trans Nzoia governor position in the 2022 general election, denied having any differences with the former regional commissioner.

Not adversaries

“Natembeya and I have never been enemies. We differ ideologically, but he is my big brother. He has told me of his ambitions, and I pray that God opens up his ways,” he stated.

While signalling a move to join hands with the DAP-K politician, Wamalwa asserted that he will not be derailed by people seeking to gag him.

“I ask you to pray for that in 2027 when the governor goes for the other seat, I become the new governor,” he said on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

“I will not accept anyone to gag me; our constitution is clear about freedom of association and that of speech.”

His remarks come as Natembeya kicked off what he termed as his push toconvince the region to chart a common path toward the 2027 general elections.

In a statement on his X page on Saturday, October 4, 2025, the governor stepped up his charm offensive in the western region by touring Bungoma County.

The politician, fresh from being crowned as the regional spokesperson by Vihiga elders, was in Netima, Bungoma County, a lair believed to be a stronghold of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

“I concluded my day at Netima in Bungoma County, where I was warmly welcomed by an incredible turnout of supporters. Engaging with the vibrant community was truly inspiring, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect, listen, and share in meaningful conversations as we champion the unity of the Mulembe nation,” he said.

The outreach to the broader Western region continued the politician’s bid to build political support and influence.

The politician has been at the forefront championing for fresh leadership in the entire western region and the unity of the Luhya community.

He has vowed to end the manipulation of the region by external forces starting in 2027.
