This happened early Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025, when they stormed Manda Shivanga village in Malava Constituency as early as 7:00 am.
Farouk and Fernandes’ latest efforts come as the opposition moves to solidify support for its flagbearer Seth Panyako, who is considered a formidable opponent for the broad-based backed candidate.
Fernandes Barasa, who also doubles as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Kakamega chairman, was the first from the party to congratulate Ndakwa for winning the UDA primaries.
He stated that as a party, they have chosen to support him in accordance with the broad-based government arrangement, adding that ODM will not field a candidate in the Malava mini-polls but will support their broad-based constituent party, UDA.

“Na mimi nataka kuambia watu wa Malava ya kwamba kama wana ODM, kwa sababu tumetilia mkazo mambo ya Broad Based Government, tulisema hatutaweka candidate hapa Malava, na tuko nyuma ya candidate wetu wa Broad Based David Ndakwa,” he said.

Barasa added that as a party, they were convinced that Ndakwa, who is currently serving as the West Kabras Ward MCA, is the best replacement for the late area MP Malulu Injendi.
He also added that all party resources would be directed to support Ndakwa, underlining the commitment to finish the developmental agenda initiated by Malulu.
This is the first time Fernandes Barasa has joined Ndakwa’s campaign trail since pledging ODM’s support for Ndakwa.
Farouk’s visits to Malava
This is not the first time Farouk Kibet has made early morning visits to Malava. He has been pitching camp in the constituency, popularising Ndakwa’s quest for the Malava parliamentary seat in the upcoming November mini-polls.

This comes amid heated campaigns in the constituency, with Ndakwa vowing not to use his platform to attack his opponents but to sell his agenda and avoid concentrating on his rivals, as they are doing to him.
He went on to criticise his opponents, saying they have resorted to desperate measures by dragging the president and other leaders aligned with him, such as Farouk, into their campaigns instead of telling the electorate what they plan to do for the people of Malava. He emphasised that he will run an issue-based campaign and not poke holes in his opponents.
