Former Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a has officially joined United Democratic Alliance (UDA) after remaining politically mum since she was trounced in 2017.

Ng’ang’a was beaten by Patrick Wainaina who garnered 58,286 votes or 52.57 per cent of votes cast against hers 52,115 (47 per cent) while George Murito was third with 477 votes, representing 0.43 per cent of the votes cast.

While all odds were stacked against Wainaina who is now eying Kiambu governors position, the independent candidate went on to win against a Jubilee flag bearer despite the fact that Thika tow is considered to be largely a Jubilee zone.

Speaking during deputy president William Ruto’s tour at Kiganjo village in Thika, Ng’ang’a made the announcement saying that UDA was set to form the next government.

“I am now officially in UDA and I’m ready to seek re-election as the MP for Thika. I will be returning here to ensure that our children from impoverished families get education like we used to do when I was in power,” she said.

She took issue with a group of persons she said have been demolishing houses in the sprawling village saying she was ready to defend her constituents.
