Etale condemns Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera over threats to constituents
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Director Philip Etale has strongly condemned Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera over remarks he made threatening to physically confront constituents who disagree with him.
Taking to his official X account on Monday, August 11, 2025, Etale said he had seen a video that has since gone viral on TikTok of the legislator “audaciously and without shame” warning residents at a public forum, boasting about “how many balls he has” and his ability to flex his muscles against anyone who crosses his path.
“I have seen a video today of a Member of Parliament AUDACIOUSLY and without SHAME threatening to rough up his constituents who do not want to listen to him. The flibbertigibbet boasted of how many balls he has and how he can flex his muscles to deal with anyone who crosses his path,” Etale stated.
Etale on power
Etale described the remarks as “egregious and ineffable,” noting that leaders must remember power is granted by God through the people and can be taken away the same way.
The ODM official urged elected leaders to exercise humility, respect, and restraint, adding that such statements undermine the dignity of public service and erode trust between leaders and the people they serve.
“Marque, this was in a public forum, and perhaps he forgot that power is given by God through the people he is issuing threats to and taken away by the same God through the very very people. That kind of attitude is egregious and ineffable, to say the least,” Etale stated.

Nabwera’s controversial remarks
The controversial comments by Nabwera have sparked public outrage, with critics calling them an affront to democratic principles and respectful political engagement.
In the video that has been seen by People Daily Digital, Nabwera is heard ordering one member of the public to be taken to him so that he can deal with him on the spot.

He goes ahead to warn the public that he always walks ready and that he was going to cane anyone who dares to disrespect him in public.
The public was not responding to the MP’s calls endorsing President William Ruto’s second term in 2027.
“Wacha niwaambie, kama hamnijui, mimi hutembea kama niko full. Nitawatembezaaa…oooh, kama mnataka kiboko mtakula…. Niletee huyo kijana hapa… “Ebu mlete hapa…” the lawmaker commands before he proceeds to speak the unprintables.
