Eddy Oketch demands ODM NDC after Sifuna meets Orengo, senior party members

By , January 8, 2026

Migori County Senator Eddy Oketch has urged Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Oginga to call the party’s National Delegates Convention (NDC).

This follows ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna’s meeting with a section of senior party members, among them Siaya Governor James Orengo and former Attorney General Amos Wako.

Taking to his official Facebook page on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Oketch said that the NDC should be called so that the current wrangles in the Orange party are sorted once and for all.

“”Party leader”, please call the NDC. We sort this once and for all,” Senator Oketch stated.

Sifuna’s meeting

Sifuna had earlier revealed that he had met a section of senior ODM party members, noting that the talks to end the wrangles had just started.

The Nairobi Senator shared a photo of some of the senior members of the Orange party in the meeting, which included Amos Wako, Orengo, former Makadara Member of Parliament Reuben Ndolo, and Kisumu Woman MP Ruth Odinga.

Others in the meeting were Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, nominated Senator Cystal Asige, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, Turkana South MP John Namoit, and Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Peter Imwatok.

Oketch’s push to oust Sifuna

Oketch had earlier engineered calls to oust Sifuna, which were put on hold after the party’s top organs intervened and proposed an in-house approach.

Oketch had, on Monday, January 5, 2026, authored a letter initiating the removal process against the Nairobi Senator from the helm of the party.

Oketch, however, confirmed that he was prevailed upon to withdraw the plans to give room for dialogue and party structures to resolve the matter.

He had faulted Sifuna’s presence in Murang’a during the funeral of Embakasi North MP James Gakuya’s mother in the company of Gachagua, stating that the development had prompted him to begin plans to initiate an ouster motion against the outspoken senator.
