Duale: Opposition must drop personal attacks and tackle key issues
By Emmanuel Rono, March 20, 2026Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called on the Opposition to shift focus on policy matters that directly affect Kenyans and avoid personal attacks on President William Ruto.
Taking to his X account on Friday, 20 March 2026, Duale emphasised the importance of constructive debate on housing, infrastructure development, education reforms, agriculture, universal healthcare, and stabilising the Kenyan shilling.
“I also called on the opposition to focus on substantive policy issues, including housing, infrastructure development, education reforms, agriculture, universal healthcare and the stability of the Kenyan shilling, rather than personal attacks on the person and office of the president,” Duale wrote.

Duale also criticised civil society organisations, accusing them of applying double standards in political discourse.
Why the silence for so long?
He claimed that the groups remained silent for over a year as opposition leaders attacked the president, but were quick to condemn the Head of State when he responded.
“Moreover, I criticised the civil society organisations for the display of double standards. For more than a year and a half, they had watched without reaction as opposition leaders slandered the president. However, they were quick to speak out and condemn the President when he chose to retaliate,” Duale said.
Duale said Kenya’s progress depends on tackling pressing policy challenges rather than engaging in personal confrontations. Duale joined the faithful in prayer, sharing Eid Mubarak wishes with Muslims at home and abroad.

He challenged worshippers to carry the prayerful momentum of Ramadan forward, particularly through acts of service to the vulnerable. As the culmination of a month of sacrifice, Eid ul-Fitr remains a global celebration of gratitude and social unity.
“Eid ul-Fitr is a significant religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide, symbolizing gratitude, charity and communal harmony after a month of fasting, prayer and reflection. Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum” (May Allah accept from us and you) and “Eid Mubarak” (Blessed Eid),” Duale said.
Opposition Attack on Ruto
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka took to his official X account on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, to hit back at William Ruto, further escalating the already heated war of words between the government and opposition leaders.

“Mr Ruto, make no mistake, we are the United Alternative Government-in-Waiting, and Kenya is a constitutional democracy. Kenyans will hold you accountable for your unconstitutional and unconscionable looting of our Republic on August 10, 2027,” he added.
