DCP UK chapter pledges full support to Gachagua ahead of 2027 elections
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has received a major boost from the diaspora after the UK chapter of the Democratic Change Party (DCP) pledged full support for his political agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Taking to his official Facebook account on the night of Friday, May 22, 2026, Gachagua said the endorsement was made during a strategic meeting in the United Kingdom, where the UK Chapter executive leadership of his DCP party deliberated on strengthening the party’s structures abroad and expanding its influence among Kenyans living in the diaspora.
Diaspora mobilisation strategy unveiled
Gachagua held talks with the DCP UK Chapter executive leadership, focusing on grassroots mobilisation, youth engagement, and strengthening party structures outside Kenya.
The discussions also centred on creating sustainable platforms to connect diaspora communities to Kenya’s political and development agenda as the country heads toward the 2027 polls scheduled for 10 August 2027.
According to the former Deputy President, diaspora participation remains a critical pillar in shaping the future of the party and the country.
“Today in UK, I have held a strategic meeting with the DCP PARTY UK Chapter Executive leadership to deliberate on strengthening our party’s presence within the diaspora and advancing the vision of people-centered leadership as espoused by our Party Philosophy,” Gachagua stated.
“We continue to focus on grassroots mobilisation, diaspora engagement, youth involvement, strengthening party structures abroad while creating sustainable platforms that connect Kenyans in the diaspora to the future of our nation.”

UK chapter pledges support
Gachagua says the DCP UK leadership reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with him, pledging unwavering support for his political direction and leadership within the party.
The chapter also committed to mobilising Kenyans abroad to actively participate in party activities and support its broader vision of people-centred leadership.
Party officials described the UK chapter as a key pillar in expanding the movement’s international footprint.
“The UK Chapter reaffirmed its unwavering support and readiness to continue working together in taking the party forward ahead of the 10th August 2027 polls and the greater future of our nation, Kenya,” Gachagua’s statement reads.
Party philosophy and organisation
During the meeting, Gachagua emphasised the importance of building a political movement rooted in democracy, accountability, and citizen participation.
He commended the UK leadership for what he termed as strong organisation, discipline, and commitment to strengthening the party’s presence abroad.
The former DP said the party remains focused on uniting supporters and building structures capable of competing effectively in the next general election.
“I commended the UK leadership for their commitment, organisation, and dedication towards building a stronger and a more inclusive movement founded on democracy, accountability, and the voice of the people,” he stated.

Gachagua’s UK tour
The former Deputy President left Kenya on Friday, May 15, 2026, in the evening, accompanied by his spouse, Reverend Dorcas, for his journey to England, and was received by Nyandarua Senator John Methu upon his arrival.
Gachagua is set for a month-long tour in the diaspora to woo the community to back his bid and also raise funds to support his political endeavours, among them being funds for nominations.
He recently stated that he is eyeing Ksh2 billion from the diaspora community, where Ksh1 billion will be earmarked for party primaries, with the remainder being contributed by the aspirants themselves.
