CS Wandayi warns dissenting opposition leaders

Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has issued a stern warning to dissenting ODM leaders, reaffirming the party’s alliance with President William Ruto’s administration.

He stated that all ODM members are expected to support the Kenya Kwanza government until 2032, when Ruto is set to complete his second term.

Wandayi, speaking in Kebabe Village in South Mugirango Constituency, Kisii County, where he launched Phase II of the Last Mile Rural Electrification Project, said ODM is fully aligned with Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in a broad-based government crafted with the blessing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

“Raila and Ruto united under the broad-based government for the sake of development. Raila supports the Kenya Kwanza government and directed ODM leaders to follow suit,” Wandayi said.

He was accompanied by Principal Secretary Alex Wachira, Area MP Silvanus Osoro, County Woman Representative Dorice Donya Aburi, and Kisii Deputy Governor Elijah Obebo.

The CS revealed that Kisii County has been allocated Ksh2 billion for electrification, part of Ruto’s pledges to uplift communities through infrastructure and economic empowerment.

Wandayi criticised opposition leaders who, he said, are focused on unseating President Ruto in 2027, calling their ambitions “a dream” given the strong support the current administration enjoys from experienced politicians.

“Some opposition leaders are in government yet continue to preach hatred and tribal politics. Kenya has no room for such divisive ideologies,” he said.
