Cherargei predicts David Ndakwa winning the Malava minipoll by 80%
By David Nthua, November 24, 2025Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has expressed strong confidence that United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa will secure a sweeping victory in the Malava by-election scheduled for November 27, 2025.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday, November 23, 2025, Cherargei said Ndakwa was on course for a decisive outcome.
Cherargei endorses Ndakwa
“Our UDA candidate of Malava constituency, Kakamega County, is winning the 27th November 2025 by-elections by a landslide by 80%,” he wrote.
Cherargei said the final days of campaigning had shown clear signs of overwhelming support.
He noted that UDA leaders and allies were fully united behind Ndakwa as the race approached its homestretch.
“Together with Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya of MSMEs, Hon. Shinali Benard MP, Ikolomani constituency and chairperson of Kakamega County Members of Parliament caucus, Ex-CS Rashid Echesa, amongst others, as we finalise the homestretch campaigns for our UDA candidate Ndakwa for Malava constituency,” Cherargei added.

The contest has shaped into a two-horse race between Ndakwa of UDA and Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako.
Both sides have intensified campaigns, drawing top national figures to Malava as they seek to influence the tight political battleground.
Matiangi stand on Panyako
While Cherargei insists Ndakwa will clinch an 80% landslide, the DAP-K camp is projecting its own confidence.
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, speaking in Malava on Friday, November 21, 2025, threw his full weight behind Panyako.
Matiang’i praised Panyako’s record as a workers’ rights champion during his tenure as Secretary-General of the Kenya National Union of Nurses.
He said he had even deployed specialists to study the race before joining the campaign.
“I sent experts last week to conduct an investigation and research here in Malava. I asked them to brief me before I came… because I cannot travel such a long distance for a useless person like Ndakwa,” Matiang’i said.
“So I asked them, who will win the Malava seat? They told me the person who will win the votes there is Seth Panyako,” he added.
Matiang’i insisted that Panyako was the right candidate to advance workers’ welfare if elected.
He said Panyako had proven his commitment by pushing government officials on labor issues during his time in public service.
The former CS joined a lineup of opposition figures backing Panyako, including Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, George Natembeya and Senator Boni Khalwale.
