Caroli Omondi: Linda Mwananchi is ready for reform talks with United Opposition

By , May 7, 2026

Suba South Member of Parliament (MP) Caroli Omondi has revealed that the Linda Mwananchi movement is open to working with the United Alternative Government on a common reform agenda ahead of the 2027 political landscape.

Speaking on the movement’s position in an interview with a local TV station on Thursday, May 7, 2026, Omondi said that Linda Mwananchi is prepared to engage with leaders allied to the United Alternative Government, provided they are genuinely committed to reforms aimed at transforming the country.

“What we are doing as Linda Mwananchi, we are willing to agree on a reform agenda with the United Opposition or the alternative government if they are committed. This is the change we want to bring to Kenya, and this is how we are going to bring it; we don’t have a problem. We are very clear on this that none of us can win this alone,” Omondi said.

Caroli has revealed that in his capacity as the Linda Mwananchi spokesperson, he has had meetings with some of the members of the United Alternative Government to have talks

The outspoken lawmaker has emphasised that collaboration among opposition-aligned groups will be necessary if meaningful reforms are to be achieved in the country. His remarks come at a time when political realignments continue to shape conversations around the next general election.

Omondi further disclosed that, in his capacity as the spokesperson of Linda Mwananchi, he has already held a meeting with some members associated with the United Alternative Government. According to him, the discussions have mainly revolved around possible cooperation and the need to build a broader reform-driven political movement.

The sentiments from the legislator come amid rising calls for unity between the UDA and the United Alternative Government, with both sides showing interest in the talks to join hands ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Caroli echoes Babu’s statement

In a similar statement, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has also lately stated that the Linda Mwananchi team is willing to partner with the united opposition since they are all like-minded.

While speaking during an interview with a local media station on Monday, May 4, 2026, the Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful remarked that the Edwin Sifuna-led team has no issue partnering with the united opposition since they all harbour a similar agenda, which, according to him, is in the best interest of the common mwananchi.

“Elections in Kenya are won through coalitions. We have no problem with a united opposition; they are like-minded individuals. We do not have a problem when we come together for the best interests of the ordinary mwananchi,” Babu said.
