After a UDA aspirant’s engagement at State House, Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi cautioned President William Ruto over the growing number of party members registering for various elective positions, arguing that the situation could create challenges ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, Amisi highlighted the overwhelming number of aspirants in Nairobi County, noting that the high competition could backfire for UDA and its supporters. He expressed concern over the pressure created by the high number of aspirants.

Please, please, Kenyans, you have lied to President Ruto imetosha sasa. Let the man breathe in and out and relax. He is just a human being,” he wrote.

He broke down the numbers, warning of the political complexities arising from multiple candidates contesting the same positions. He further pointed to potential disappointments for the majority of candidates.

“Take a look at the list below: For example, 112 aspirants for MP in Nairobi County. Let’s break it down; Nairobi has 17 constituencies, therefore each constituency has 7 aspirants on UDA at most. After the nomination, only one will carry the UDA flag. Where will the other 6 go? 6 times 17 aspirants will just lose nomination and wait to be appointed in the next government? Appointed where? By whom and why? A big open lie,” he stated.

Amisi also cautioned on the political landscape of Nairobi, emphasising that the city remains largely anti-government.

“All capital cities in all worlds’ democracies, Nairobi included, are always anti-government. Nairobi is 80 % anti government. They can increase their 20% to 30% if ODM join,” he warned.

He laid bare the risks for UDA nominees and the pressure it could place on Ruto’s administration. He went further to caution the party against overextending resources.

“So even the UDA-nominated aspirant in Embakasi East has 0.00000007 chances of winning the election on a UDA ticket. I have not said Kibra, Kasarani, Westlands, etc. Which serious candidate can risk his hard-earned money on such a probability?” Amisi said.

He concluded by advising restraint and strategic planning ahead of the polls and urged careful consideration of political moves leading up to the election.

“Only 10% of those who were at the State House will vie on UDA in the 2027 GE. The rest have already started deregistering as they left the State House this morning. Thank me later,” Amisi noted.
