Caleb Amisi declares Sifuna-led faction force to watch ahead of 2027

By , August 31, 2025

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has rejected the “third force” tag being associated with the Kenya Moja MPs led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, insisting that they are the only force in the political arena.

Speaking during a fundraiser in Funyula, Busia County, on Sunday, August 31, 2025, Amisi addressed the gathering, which included the Kenya Moja team, comprising Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kitutu Chache MP Antony Kibagendi, and Kitutu Masaba MP Cleve Gesairo.

He dismissed the narrative advanced by the media that portrays them as a third force, asserting that they should only be recognised as the main political force.

This comes at a time when the Sifuna-led group has gradually gained ground, holding a series of fundraisers and consultative meetings in different parts of the country. Their growing influence has seen them increasingly branded as a “third force” in the race toward the 2027 general election.

Amisi, however, strongly opposed this classification, maintaining that their movement is the only political force capable of shaping the country’s future. He emphasised that their growing presence has already unsettled established political players, even though they have so far held only two major public meetings.

Despite being ranked third after the united opposition front led by figures such as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Amisi declared that the “third force” label should end in Funyula.

“This is our second public meeting ya Kenya Moja; wengi wameanxa kusema hii ni third force, we have refused; hii inaitwa the only force; Ukiona hio jina ni ngumu sema airforce one, hio iko sawa; mambo ya third force inaishia hapa Funyula.” Amisi said

He also criticised COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, who recently dismissed the Kenya Moja MPs as inexperienced. Amisi countered that the group have sufficient experience to lead the country, adding that the only kind of experience they do not possess is the misuse of public resources, which he associated with some legacy politicians.

Kenya Moja MPs

The Kenya Moja group has been traversing the country to consolidate its base. Their first meeting was held in Kabuchai before moving to Saboti, where they were hosted by Amisi. Last Sunday, they joined Babu Owino for a church service in Embakasi.

Kitutu Chache MP Antony Kibagendi, a member of the group, has recently urged the Kenya Moja team to consider working with the broader opposition coalition to ensure that the current regime does not extend beyond 2027.
