By Luke Oluoch, November 21, 20252027 presidential hopeful Boniface Mwangi has termed the Kenyan youth as the force representing the most potent threat to the status quo in Kenya.

Young people
The human rights activist challenged the youth to take an active role in the political affairs of the country.
“Young people are the strongest opposition in this country, and when they organise, they are unstoppable,” he affirmed.

He emphasised that they remain solely responsible for bringing leadership change. a facet he says will only be attained via a strategic, united, and principled approach.
“If we want better leadership, we must build it together. No one is coming to save us. We save ourselves by choosing integrity, speaking truth, and standing with each other,” he stated.

Mwangi is among the few individuals who have confirmed their interest in succeeding President William Ruto after announcing his presidential ambitions in August 2025.

During the function, Mwangi stated that his vision is driven by a desire to better the country as a long-serving patriot, emphasising the need to address governance and economic issues that have plagued the country.
“Friends, our country is broken and in danger of becoming a failed state. Nothing is working. A vast majority are struggling with the crippling high cost of living, and taxes are choking us to death. “How much longer are we going to tighten our belts?” he posed.
He also took a swipe at the country’s political class and specifically singled out President William Ruto for overseeing widespread corruption and disregard for the rule of law.
Onslaught on president and parliament
“Our political class is the highest paid but can’t keep their hands out of the coffers. Today, 83,300 Kenyans own 99% of this country… Our president treats the Constitution like tissue paper. He flouts the law, disobeys court orders, and undermines the constitution,” he said.
Following his bid, Mwangi has accused the state of targeting him and attempting to block his presidential bid through intimidation.
