Ayub Savula: We are in talks with Caleb Amisi to join tutam
By Mabonga Makhanu, July 1, 2026Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has disclosed that the broad-based government is in talks with Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi, who recently fell out with the Linda Mwananchi movement, to have him join President William Ruto’s TUTAM movement.
While speaking to the media on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the outspoken Kakamega gubernatorial hopeful also stated that they are capitalising on the differences within the Linda Mwananchi movement to pull the Saboti lawmaker, who claims to be the brain behind the Linda Mwananchi movement, to the government side.

“As we speak now we have began talking to Caleb Amisi; we have engaged him formally and very soon, if the negotiation goes successfully, he will join Ruto’s Tulam. There seem to be huge political differences within that Linda Mwananchi team, and those differences are what we will be capitalising on to pull Amisi to our side,” Savula revealed.
This comes days after Caleb Amisi announced his departure from the Linda Mwananchi movement in order to form his own movement, saying the Linda Mwananchi movement had failed to live up to its initial assignment, where it was supposed to remove all legacy politicians from the political scene.
Instead, it has shown willingness to partner with them, including those from the United Opposition.
Amisi’s double standards
Caleb Amisi has sent confusing signals to the public by criticising the Edwin Sifuna-led movement for showing willingness to partner with the United Opposition, saying it is a wrong move and that Kenyans are against it. However, despite his reservations about the Sifuna-led team, he has continued attending United Opposition rallies.
He recently skipped the Linda Mwananchi rally held at Kivulini Grounds in Thika and instead joined the United Opposition, who were in his constituency in Kitale Town for their home stretch rally during their Western Kenya United Alternative Government tour.
He has also been meeting United Alternative Government leaders such as Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, further fuelling confusion among Kenyans over his stance on the United Opposition.

This also comes a day after he warned Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna against going into a coalition with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying that as much as Kenyans do not want President William Ruto, it does not mean they want Gachagua as their leader.
Orengo slams Amisi
Siaya Governor James Orengo, a key figure within the Linda Mwananchi movement, has also come out to slam Amisi over his stance on Linda Mwananchi’s proposal to form a pact with its opposition counterparts, terming it hypocritical. Orengo questioned why he and other Linda Mwananchi movement leaders have not attended any United Opposition rallies, yet Amisi has been attending them while at the same time criticising the movement for showing interest in joining hands with the coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
