Amisi slams Wanga, ODM leaders for politicking too soon after Raila’s death
By Kiprono Keileb, October 23, 2025Caleb Amisi has strongly criticised ODM leaders, including Gladys Wanga, for what he describes as excessive political activity following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Amisi’s remarks, posted on his X account on Thursday, October 23, 2025, question the timing and focus of political manoeuvres in the immediate aftermath of Raila’s passing.
“Why is Wanga and company so active politically after Baba’s death? What happened to the period of mourning?” he asked, expressing frustration at the prioritisation of party politics over paying respects to the late leader.
He went on to condemn actions he perceives as stirring ethnic tension. “Why are they all over the media spewing tribal animosity between a democratic community against other communities?” Amisi wrote.

According to Amisi, some leaders are focusing more on party agendas than on honouring Raila’s life. “Since Baba died, they are more on broad-based politics than the life of Raila? Even if Baba left you in broad-based, why are you defending it more than the owners and UDA MPs?” he questioned, highlighting what he sees as misplaced priorities.

Amisi expressed disappointment at the perceived casual treatment of Raila’s death.
“Why is the death of such an enigmatic figure in our country taken so casually by the very leaders he brought up?” he asked, adding, “Why, brothers and sisters? Why? Why should you treat Mzee like this in his death? Why behave so evil towards the man who created the careers of many of you?” he added
He also criticised what he considers a rush to focus on ODM succession.
“Why are you so fixed on ODM? Its future, its presidential candidate, etc, more than mourning the death of the founder, Raila Odinga? Why are you in a hurry to quickly chase leaders like Caleb, Sifuna and Babu out of ODM, whom Baba never chased away, but loved them?”
Reflecting on broader concerns, Amisi questioned how Raila’s health was handled and the circumstances surrounding his passing.
“And by the way? Why was Baba’s health treated and handled so casually? And how can Baba die so suddenly in the first place?”
He concluded by calling for a broader reflection on Kenya’s political culture. “This is not right, guys! Kenya needs a renaissance!” he concluded
Amisi’s statements have sparked discussion online, with many reflecting on the delicate balance between mourning a national figure and continuing political discourse.
