Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has criticized President William Ruto for using national resources for political mobilization, warning that such actions could hinder the country’s development efforts.

Through a statement shared on his X account on Sunday, March 30, 2025, Amisi cautioned the President against prioritizing political agendas over the country’s progress.

“Dear Ruto, let us not commit all our nation’s resources to leaders’ political mobilisation,” Amisi advised.

Amisi expressed concern that dedicating resources to political mobilization could leave little to support critical development initiatives needed to uplift Kenyans’ livelihoods. He emphasized the importance of leaving behind a legacy built on meaningful growth and sustainable development.

The Saboti legislator urged the President to consider the future of young generations, stressing that Kenya’s progress depends on responsible leadership and prudent resource management.

Amisi further noted that leaders should focus on creating tangible achievements that would positively impact the country’s social and economic landscape rather than engaging in constant political manoeuvring.

He underscored that Kenya’s development would not come as an automatic blessing, but rather as a result of deliberate planning, proper utilization of resources, and good governance.

Amisi also for an end to what he described as misplaced priorities, urging the President to shift focus towards initiatives that would leave a lasting impact on the nation.

“What is therefore left for development ? This is not right, bwana. Let’s at least leave a legacy from our leadership and remember nobody will drop like manna from heaven to come and develop Kenya. What are we leaving for our young generation? This nonsense must stop,” Amisi declared.

Advice on reshuffle

This comes barely a week after Amisi raised concerns over Ruto’s recent Cabinet reshuffle, cautioning that frequent changes could undermine effective governance.

In a statement posted on his X account on Thursday, March 27, 2025, Amisi criticized the recurrent Cabinet reassignments, arguing that making such adjustments at a high frequency without considering competence and efficiency breeds insecurity among state officials.

He warned that the persistent uncertainty might push government officials to focus more on personal interests rather than service delivery, driven by fears that their positions are not secure.

Amisi likened the constant reshuffles to the governance approach of former Zairean leader Mobutu Sese Seko, who changed his Cabinet 60 times during his tenure.

“Frequent shuffling, reshuffling, and jumbling cabinet at a speed faster than lightning, with no regard to efficiency and competence, encourages insecurity among state officers.

It creates the idea of taking what you can; the future is not guaranteed. Mobutu of Zaire reshuffled his cabinet 60 times for the period he ruled,” Amisi stated.

The lawmaker urged President Ruto to reconsider his strategy, warning that such an approach could have significant repercussions on the country’s governance.

“I don’t know if that is an example to borrow from. I urge the president to rethink his strategy and its far-reaching implications for the statecraft of the nation,” Amisi added.
