Ademba Allans announces peaceful Nairobi protests to boost voter turnout
Youth mobiliser Ademba Allans has announced a peaceful procession in Nairobi’s Central Business District scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2026, under the Tuko Kadi Initiative – Kenya in partnership with Gen Z Movement Kenya.
Taking to his X, on April 13, 2026, Ademba has encouraged more young people to participate in the process.
He also noted that the event is intended to mark the milestone of one million new voter registrations under the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
Mobilisation around voter registration milestone
Organisers said the procession will be peaceful and conducted within the framework of the Constitution.
A formal notice was issued to the Officer Commanding Station at Central Police Station, indicating that participants will remain unarmed and comply with public order requirements. The initiative is anchored on constitutional provisions including political rights, freedom of assembly, expression, association, and movement.
“I have written a notice to Central Pollice station and they are ready for our Tuko Kadi peaceful procession tomorrow. Please help me share this so that we get as many registrations Kesho.”
The announcement follows a one-day voter registration drive conducted by the electoral body in Nairobi’s CBD on April 12, 2026, targeting young people and content creators.
Registration centres operated throughout the day to increase accessibility. Data released by the commission shows that between March 30 and April 9, 2026, a total of 875,501 new voters were registered.

Of these, 531,185 registrations were recorded within one week, alongside 49,502 voter transfers and 1,066 personal details updates. The commission described the trend as a strong response from citizens engaging in the electoral process.
Youth-driven civic engagement gains momentum
The Tuko Kadi Initiative has emerged as a youth-led campaign aimed at increasing voter registration and participation ahead of the 2027 elections.
The movement has gained visibility through social media mobilisation, community outreach, and civic education activities encouraging young people to verify details and obtain voter cards. Organisers maintain that the initiative is independent and not affiliated with any political party.
The planned procession is expected to include civic awareness activities and engagement at key points within the CBD. Participants have been mobilised through online platforms, with organisers sharing coordination details and inviting public participation.
Focus on participation ahead of future elections
The electoral body continues to conduct registration across the country in county assembly wards, Huduma Centres, and learning institutions to expand the voter register.
The Nairobi procession comes amid ongoing efforts to sustain registration momentum and improve turnout among first-time voters.
Organisers say the event will focus on encouraging eligible citizens to register, verify their details, and take part in elections.
