Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMEs) Wycliffe Oparanya on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, held a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

Wetang’ula took to his official X account to announce that Oparanya had paid him a courtesy call in his office at Parliament Buildings.

Wetang’ula on issues discussed

According to Wetang’ula, they discussed a wide range of issues touching on governance.

He further revealed that they also discussed how Oparanya’s docket and the National Assembly can partner on the legislative front to facilitate the delivery of its agenda as well as the smooth running of government and the advancement of the country.

“This afternoon, the new Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMEs), Hon. Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya, EGH, paid me a courtesy call in my office at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi.

“We discussed a wide range of issues touching on governance and how his ministry and the National Assembly can partner in the legislative front to facilitate delivery of its agenda as well as smooth running of government and the advancement of the country,” Wetang’ula stated.

Wetang’ula on regional interests

Moreover, Wetang’ula noted that they discussed Western region issues, more so the unity of the leaders from the region.

This, Wetang’ula says, is in a bid to recognise President William Ruto’s move to promote inclusivity through his broad-based government.

“Recognising President H.E. President William Ruto’s move to promote inclusivity and unity for the prosperity of all Kenyans under the Broad-based Government approach, we also discussed issues relating to the Western region and the need for all the leaders, political affiliation notwithstanding, to come together so as to uplift the economic status of our people and the region,” Wetang’ula stated.

After being appointed as CS, Oparanya admitted that his perception of the Kenya Kwanza government has changed since joining it.

Addressing the residents of Malava in Kakamega County on Saturday, August 17, 2024, during President Ruto’s tour of the region, Oparanya expressed his satisfaction with the progress made by the government, acknowledging that his eyes have been opened to the significant developments that have taken place.

Na hii wiki moja nimekaa kwa hii serikali, nimeona imefanya mambo mengi. You know, when I was outside, I didn’t know what was inside. But now that I am inside, I know how it is,” Oparanya declared.
