A packed weekend of competitive golf is set to unfold across three major courses in Kenya, as the seventh leg of the 2025 NCBA Golf Series, the prestigious Trans Nzoia Championship and the Coast Junior Open get underway today.

More than 100 golfers are expected at Nairobi’s Golf Park course for the NCBA Golf Series’ seventh round, which doubles as the club’s April Monthly Mug.

The Pay-and-Play venue will welcome players aiming to qualify for the series’ Grand Finale, joining past winners from Vet Lab, Nandi Bears, Malindi, Kenya Railway, Kiambu and Nakuru.

Simultaneously, Kitale Golf Club will stage the NCBA Trans Nzoia Championship, one of the crown jewels on the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) 2025 calendar, drawing 58 top-tier players. With defending champion John Lejirma absent, the field is wide open for a new champion to emerge in the three-day event, which includes a cut after two rounds. The top 33 golfers (plus ties) will compete for a prize pool of Ksh 174,000 and critical World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points.

Meanwhile, budding talents will descend on Mombasa Golf Club for the third edition of the NCBA Coast Junior Open, which tees off today and runs through Sunday. Over 100 junior players with handicap limits of 28.0 (boys) and 36.0 (girls) will compete, reflecting NCBA’s ongoing efforts to nurture golf from grassroots levels.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora hailed the triple-event weekend as a reflection of the bank’s growing impact on Kenya’s golf ecosystem. “We’re proud to support elite competitions and club-level events alike. Our focus remains on building pathways for talent and enhancing the accessibility and competitiveness of golf nationwide,” he said.

At the Nakuru leg last week, Paul Muhia took top honours with the overall gross title, while Esther Karuga triumphed among the ladies. The two were part of six players who secured spots for the NCBA Grand Finale.

Speaking ahead of the Kitale showdown, KGU Tournament Director Chris Kinuthia praised NCBA’s transformative role in elevating Kenyan golf stated, “Their support has raised the standard of play and allowed emerging talent to gain critical experience and global visibility.”

The Trans Nzoia Championship will be conducted under R&A Rules and KAGC Local Regulations, with additional local rules enforced by the tournament committee.
