The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a scheduled maintenance of its iTax platform, days after a system outage towards the close of the annual income tax filing period left millions of taxpayers unable to access the portal.

In a public notice issued on Friday, the tax authority said the iTax system will be unavailable from 8:00 pm on Friday, July 3, 2026, to 12:00 am on Saturday, July 4, 2026, to facilitate planned maintenance.

“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iTax from Friday 3rd July, 2026, 8:00 PM to Saturday 4th July, 2026, 12:00 AM. We regret any inconvenience caused,” KRA said.

The announcement comes after the tax authority experienced a major disruption of the iTax platform in the final days leading up to the June 30, 2026, annual tax filing deadline, locking out millions of individual taxpayers attempting to file their returns.

The outage triggered widespread complaints from taxpayers, tax agents and businesses, many of whom reported being unable to log into the system or complete the filing process before the statutory deadline.

The latest maintenance notice is expected to temporarily interrupt access to iTax services, including tax return filing, payment processing and other online tax transactions during the four-hour maintenance window.

KRA did not indicate whether the scheduled maintenance is related to the recent system outage but apologized for the inconvenience caused.
