Govt set to launch nationwide registration of LPG, petroleum businesses
The government is set to launch a nationwide registration of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and petroleum businesses in the country to enhance their management and regulation.
The exercise, scheduled to be launched by State Department of Internal Security in collaboration with the State Department for Petroleum, will take place from April 3 to 14, 2023.
In a joint statement issued by Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo and his Petroleum counterpart Mohammed Liban, the officials said the exercise will help to ensure that all LPG and petroleum operators are compliant with safety regulations, thereby minimizing the risk of accidents and protecting the public.
They further said that the exercise will be conducted across all sub-counties and will involve the collection of data and information from all LPG and petroleum businesses.
“The registration will be conducted by National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) in collaboration with the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA),” the joint statement read in part.
Dr. Omollo and Liban likewise urged all LPG and petroleum businesses to partake in the drive within the said timeframe failure to which they will be declared non-operational once the exercise comes to a close.
“Upon expiry of the registration period, all unregistered LPG and petroleum businesses will be deemed to be non-operational,” they warned.
