Governor Kihika explains how WRC 2026 serves as major boost to Nakuru tourism
By Cynthia Lodite, March 12, 2026Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has explained that the 2026 World Rally Championships will serve as a major boost to the Nakuru County Tourism sector, as millions of fans are expected to attend the event.
In a post on his official X account on Thursday, March 12, 2026, Susan Kihika explained that the event will put the local traders and contractors on the map.
At the same time, the Nakuru Governor called on the motor vehicle manufacturers to partner with Nakuru County in strengthening the training curriculum in mechanical and electrical engineering with the County’s Vocational Training Centres (VTCs).
“I am pleased that the event serves as a major boost to our tourism sector, local traders, and contractors. I urged motor vehicle manufacturers to partner with Nakuru County in strengthening the training curriculum in mechanical and electrical engineering within our Vocational Training Centres (VTCs),” Kihika said.
According to the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, the Government has invested Ksh400 million in event fees to the International Automobile Federation.
In addition, Kindiki confirmed that the Ksh400 million was raised by corporate sponsors from the public and private sectors who have stepped forward to support this magnificent event.
“We remain open to collaborations aimed at transforming the VTC training landscape in Nakuru County,” she added.

2026 WRC safety guidelines
The National Police Service (NPS) has announced a safety guideline ahead of the Rally Championship Safari Rally in Naivasha, assuring the public of safety and traffic preparedness.
In a statement by the National Police Service on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the NPS assured the public of traffic management and public safety measures.
This comes at the height of the 2026 World Rally Championship Safari Rally Kenya, which is scheduled to take place from 12th to 15th March, 2026, in Naivasha and surrounding areas.
“Pursuant to the National Police Service’s mandate of Law Enforcement and Public Safety, and working collaboratively in a multi-agency framework, the Service has put in place comprehensive security, traffic management and public safety measures ahead of the 2026 World Rally Championship Safari Rally Kenya, scheduled to take place from 12th to 15th March, 2026, in Naivasha and surrounding areas,” NPS said.
The National Police Service has deployed an adequate number of police officers across rally routes, spectator zones and key access roads to maintain security, manage crowds and support traffic control operations.
