Wetangula accuses Matiang’i, IG Mutyambai of giving Raila’s camp preferential treatment

By , July 1, 2022

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has accused Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai of selectively applying the law.

The lawmaker claimed that the duo fast-tracked the arrest of an officer that posed a security threat during Azimio’s rally in Kisii but failed to bring to book, youths who pelted Ruto’s entourage with stones in Jacaranda and Kondele.

In a statement on his Twitter account, Wetangula sarcastically congratulated the duo for apprehending the officer who lobbed a teargas canister at a VIP Dias while Azimio’s presidential running mate Martha Karua was addressing a crowd.

The Kenya Kwanza principal however wondered why security agencies fail to act in the same vein when violence is meted out on members of Ruto’s coalition.

“Congratulations CS Matiangi and IG Mutyambai. The cop who lobbed tear gas at Karua was arrested/arraigned. What about the goons who stoned DP Ruto at Kondele and Jacaranda? Selective application of the law?”Wetangula wrote.

At the time of publishing this article, the security boss had not yet responded to his question.
